Picture Day is Coming – September 12 or September 13
Students are able to wear nice dress clothes on the day that their class has pictures. Please follow the Parent/Student handbook dress guideline and wear your Sunday best!
On Wednesday, September 12th the following classes will have their pictures taken: Mrs. Salazar’s Preschool class, Mrs. Jeske’s Preschool class, Kindergarten, and 1st-3rd grade
On Thursday, September 13th the following classes will have their pictures taken: Mrs. Jeske’s Preschool class, 4th – 8th grade

Dress Down Opportunity – September 14
We’ll enjoy our first dress down, out-of-uniform day on September 14th, in anticipation of celebrating the parish Oktoberfest. Stay tuned to find out the theme that Student Council will suggest. Please refer to the dress down guidelines. Students who do not follow these guidelines will not be able to participate in the next dress-down opportunity.

Oktoberfest Volunteering – September 15
Join the parish/school/neighborhood community for this year’s Oktoberfest. Activities for children include photo booths, cake walks, and more. Delicious food and drink. Year of Faith – Focus on a virtue each month
The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, Nashville, have created and published a free 3-year cycle of virtues to practice as an entire family. While the entire school/family practices the same virtue, they can each study a different saint who shows us how to live out this virtue in a heroic way. This month students will learn about and continue to practice the virtue of faith by which we can “touch” God. Find the curriculum here on the Dominican Sisters’ website. Michael Gurian coming to SVDP Save the Date – September 27
SVDP Teachers and Staff will be reflecting this year how new scientific research about boys and girls brains informs pedagogy and classroom or school environment. Michael Gurian, of Gurian Institute, will be addressing teachers in a workshop on September 28th on the scheduled inservice day. Parents are invited to a presentation the prior evening where Mr. Gurian will give a keynote presentation, offer time for Q&A, and have a book signing for those wishing to dig into the research further. Please plan to join us in the gym from 6:30-7:30pm.
