2019-2020 Staffing Announcements for Next School Year
- After finishing the last nine years of her career at St. Vincent de Paul School, Mrs. Jane Bancroft, computer and technology teacher, will retire at the end of this school year. Read her letter to our parent community here. Mrs. Bancroft has been a wonderful, innovative, creative, and humorous teacher and we will miss her dearly.
- Mrs. Sarah Sullivan will assume the technology teaching position, while keeping two 8th grade English classes.
- Mr. Chris Boyle, new to us this year as our PE teacher and 7th grade preAlgebra teacher will move on to teaching high school Math at Regis Jesuit High School. He is Jesuit educated for 12+ years and will be a perfect fit. He has been a great asset to the school this year, and we will miss him!
- Mr. Niall McInerney will teach grades 6, 7, 8 Math. Mr. McInerney taught high school math for the past 8 years at Bishop Machebeuf High School and is highly regarded and greatly loved among his students and colleagues at Machebeuf and elsewhere. We look forward to having him on staff next year.
- It takes TWO PEOPLE to replace Mr. Boyle! Teaching K-8 PE next year is Maddie Kueber coming to us from Nashville. She is an energetic young teacher who works well with students of all age groups. I am confident that she will be a perfect fit in our community.
- Miss Mackenzie Key, instructional assistant for the first grade hallway, will be getting married in September and moving out of the area. She has been a gift to the teachers and students this year and we wish her the best as she begins a new life with her husband.
- Mrs. Patrice Balke will join us as an instructional assistant on the kindergarten/first grade hallway. She has worked with early childhood students for many years and spent several of those years at Fatima Catholic School in our Archdiocese.
- All of the Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia will return to St. Vincent de Paul next school year. We are grateful for the stability this brings.
Announcements
Survey for Strategic Planning
In order to gather as much data as possible to begin our strategic plan, please complete the Catholic Identity Program Effectiveness survey. Your feedback, both positive and constructive, will support the process of improvement at SVDP School for the coming years, and can have direct impact on the children who are currently at the school. Thank you for taking the time to provide clear and specific feedback.
Library Books Due
All library books are due by Friday, May 24th. If you child has lost or damaged a book, he or she can pay the assigned fee listed on the overdue notice or purchase a replacement for the library. If you have any questions about your child’s library books, please contact Mrs. Edmonds at bedmonds@svdpk8.com.
Reimbursement receipts by May 30
To help us to close out our books in a timely way, please submit reimbursable receipts no later than May 30th, and sooner if possible. This is particularly important for anyone who is asking for reimbursement for a gala-related expense. Receipts turned in after June 30th will not be considered for reimbursement.
Training for Summer Help in the Outdoor Lab
During the summer months, we rely on volunteers to maintain the chicken coop and the gardens and greenhouse. (Last year our volunteers saved one of the chicken’s lives!) If you are interested in participating in this volunteer program (perks of collecting fresh eggs and fresh vegetables for your family on the days you volunteer) please call the front office to let us know that you would like to be trained. A Sign Up Genius will be published later in May for families to sign up according to their availability/vacation schedules.
Extended Care Registration for 2019-2020 School Year – Open Now!
Registration for Extended Care 2019-2020 is now available. To register please complete these forms along with the appropriate fee and return to the school front office. All unpaid balances must be paid in order to register for Extended Care.
Trying to begin a Robotics Club at SVDP
SVDP is poised to begin a robotics program with the possibility of competing as a team. We are looking for parent volunteers who can help to run the club, and who will be supported by an SVDP Teacher. The opportunity allows students in grades 6-8 to build robots to perform challenges as directed by the coordinators of the program. Students work together, rebound through trial and error, problem solving, and research to put their robot on the right track. If you are interested in learning more about the opportunity, and what it entails, please contact Mrs. McConaty at bmcconaty@svdpk8.com. This is a learning year for us, but we hope to be competing in the 2019-2020 school year, or the following year, depending on parent interest in supporting the club. If you know someone in the community, even a college student studying engineering, who may be interested in this role, please nominate him/her or let them know about the opportunity. Some of our students have real gifts in this area, and we would like to support them by providing this extra curricular opportunity. Thank you for considering.

Fall Sports Season
Registration for the Fall 2019 Athletic season is open. Sports available to students are:
- Cross Country*: 6-8 Grades Boys and Girls. A total of four meets will be hosted by CSAL. Registration Form Online
- Flag Football** 3-8 Grades Boys and Girls/coed competition. Teams will play 8 regular season games over 4 weeks (September 21st, September 28th, October 5th-all games at Mullen High School-, October 12th, and October 19 (Championship/3rd Place Games).
- Contact our Athletic Director Dave Strawbridge at sports@svdpk8.com with any questions
To register for athletic teams, go to www.csalden.org, select Register Now, then click St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School.
*Cross Country has 48 spaces on the team. We open this sport up to all 6, 7, 8 grade runners. If there are spaces available after the registration deadline, we will let rising 5th grade students/parents know the opportunity to join the cross country team as a 5th grader. If there are only a few spaces, we will plan a qualifying race to fill as many spots as are open to 5th graders.
**Flag Football is a short season. At this time in the sport’s development as a CSAL activity, we do not offer open signups because we cannot guarantee a team and coach for everyone who registers. Again this year, if your child would like to play, we ask that you assemble a team and a coach and register them to play. Mr. David Strawbridge can help with the process once you have assembled the team. We are happy to help connect people who want to play.
