Upper Playground Update
We’ve seen progress on the upper playground this week which is causing excitement. I’ve learned that our construction site has been uncooperative – a nice way of saying “we didn’t expect to find all this pea gravel under the surface.” The workers have had to modify/deepen how they are anchoring the set. That is complete as of Wednesday this week. They are setting basketball poles and backboards Thursday and laying roadbase for underneath the PIP (poured in play) surface. The site will be ready for the final piece – the surface installation – by the end of the day on Friday. We’re getting close!

Flag Football – Teams due to Dave Strawbridge by Tuesday
Within the past couple of years CSAL introduced flag football as a short-season sport for Archdiocesan Catholic Schools. As a newer sport, registration is handled differently from basketball, volleyball and cross country. At SVDP the Athletic Director invites interested parents to put teams together by word of mouth among age levels. Then, whole teams, along with coach, are registered as a group. There are no individual signups for flag football. Teams can be formed with all boys, all girls or both boys and girls. The league is a co-ed and our teams will play against any of the combination of above. Game dates can be found under the Athletics Tab at the Parent Portal.
As with all athletics, participation in flag football requires that at least one parent of each athlete completes the Play Like a Champion course. Dates and times for these classes can be found at the csalden.org website. Please contact our Athletic Director, Dave Strawbridge at sports@svdpk8.com with any questions.
September 3: Teams are due to Dave Strawbridge
September 17: Coaches’ Meeting for Flag Football at 6pm
More sports information and dates can be found under the Athletics Tab on the Parent Portal.
Online Registration for Basketball

Students must be registered by September 27 to be eligible to be placed on a team (grades 3-4) or to try out for a team (grades 5-8). If this expense is prohibitive for any family, please contact our athletic director, Dave Strawbridge at sports@svpdk8.com so we can help to scholarship your fees. If you need an alternate payment option, you may contact the school front office.
You will also need to register your student-athletes at the CSAL website as part of the league’s requirement.
The Widgets Program serving students in grades 3-4 is now fully organized by CSAL. Students who are registered on the SVDP Google Form above by September 27 will be placed on a team. No try out is needed.
