Visit from Mother Anna Grace and Sister John Mary
The Dominican Sisters are very much looking forward to the upcoming formal Visitation with Mother Anna Grace and Sister John Mary who are coming from Nashville for this canonical Visitation. Canon law requires that the major superior, or her delegate, make a visit to the mission houses of the Congregation. Our Congregation completes these visits every three years. Some of you may remember meeting our previous major superior three years ago. The schedule for these visits is set more than a year in advance, so this is a scheduled and expected visit. A fun fact about Mother Anna Grace is that her first teaching assignment for our Congregation was at St. Vincent de Paul in the middle school religion classroom. Accompanying her is Sister John Mary who is a canon lawyer and the Director of Education for the Congregation. When she is able to accompany Mother Anna Grace, she spends time at the schools with the teaching sisters and the administrators. As a courtesy, these visits typically include a meeting with the Pastor, the Archbishop and the Superintendent, if they are available when the Visitation is scheduled. Please welcome Mother Anna Grace and Sister John Mary if you happen to see them around the church or school. They arrive next Thursday.

Update on 2019 Paddle Raiser – Playground
Phase I of our playground is now complete. There are questions about whether swings will be replaced since they were originally proposed within the scope of the paddle raiser. You will recall that we had the amazing surprise at the gala of receiving nearly 3x the amount of paddle raiser money that we were proposing for the projects. With that unexpected sum of money, we had new opportunities. The swingset replacement totaled $35,000 but we had $170,000 to apply to the playground. We needed to reconsider the best use of the funds, and decided it was the year to replace the main structure which was 30 years old. The new structure cost $167,000 so there was not enough money in the paddle raiser funds to replace the swings and the main play structure. This was referenced in a communication at the end of June, but hopefully this update provides specific explanation for any lingering questions. Please feel free to call Sister Dominic with questions or concerns.

Appreciation and Prayers for Father Doug at September 22nd 9:30am Mass
Please mark your calendars for the Shhh… Surprise Appreciation Mass for Father Doug Grandon on Sunday, September 22 at 9:30 am. We would LOVE to fill the church in gratitude for Father Doug as he has been pursuing truth and what is right for our parish and community. Let’s shower him with our presence and prayer at this special Mass. Please encourage your children to wear their school uniforms to visually emphasize our school’s support. Also, please encourage your children to write special offertory thank you notes…. can you visualize the children (all SVDP students, not just the little ones) flooding the aisle and altar when asked to bring up the children’s gifts? We just may make Father Doug shed a tear or two!!
Lectors of Family Sundays
We would like to invite families to lector at the Masses on the first weekend of the month. A parent and child could do the two readings, siblings, two parents – any combo would be cherished! Simply sign your duo up for one or multiple dates and then Kathleen Osher will contact you with the readings and to help practice at church. This is a great way to spread the beauty of the Gospel and fill and huge need. With love and gratitude, Faith and Family H&S. You can find the sign up genius on the Volunteer Calendar at the first Saturday and Sunday of the month, as well as use this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0545A8AB22A31-lectors
