Out of Uniform Friday November 22
In celebration of St. Cecilia, who is the Patron Saint of the Dominican Sisters, and whose feast is celebrated November 22nd, the students and staff are invited to dress down – FREE DRESS DAY. (Note: Students who are not dressed within the out of uniform guidelines will not be able to participate in the next free dress day).
November 22nd was the scheduled day for the AR point exchange free dress day. This will be moved to Monday, November 25th so that these students still receive the extra prize of a free dress day for the efforts in earning all of their AR points. Please hold onto these passes over the weekend and use them on Monday!
Report Cards Published November 22
Report cards for Grades 1-8 will be published online for families on the afternoon of Friday, November 22. This is our first go-around with the FACTS platform, but hope this part of communicating grades to families will be seamless. Please note that if you have a child who will have a D or an F on a trimester report card, the teacher should have already been in contact with you to let you know what is contributing to the insufficient performance. Please work with the teacher, not to change the first trimester grade, but to ensure all supports are in place that will enable the student to be successful in the second trimester. Kindergarten report cards will be posted on Tuesday, November 26th.
Strategic Plan Process Update – You Are Invited to a Focus Group Session
Thank you to all who have participated in a focus group for the strategic plan. We have gathered wonderful feedback from the community and are in the process of consolidating the feedback to identify potential strategic priorities. We are on target to finalize the initial list of suggested improvements by the end of the year, and distribute a community wide survey in early 2020 to identify the top priorities to incorporate into the strategic planning process.
We will hold two final focus groups open to the community. The sessions will be offered at 8am on December 3rd and 6:30pm on December 4th which last approximately 30-40 minutes. If you are interested in attending, please complete the google form below.

Forming Young Men through Athletics – Attention SVDP Coaches
This podcast offers a quality discussion on forming our youth through athletics; it emphasizes the MANY opportunities that naturally present themselves to develop needed qualities in our youth. At St. Vincent de Paul School, our first goal for any program we offer is the full formation of the human person. Especially for our coaches, please listen to this podcast if you get a chance as it will support you in identifying situational opportunities in practices and games where young athletes can learn to build grit, to persevere, to fail with success, to manage difficult emotions with poise and respect.
