Resource – Coronavirus
The Archdiocese, and all parishes and schools, are staying informed about the development of the Coronavirus in the United States. Find two resources put out by the Archdiocese: a specialists Q&A and the archden website which may be useful to you. SVDP School will update parents as resources are available and we continue to encourage the best known hygiene habits during this time.
Yearbook Photos
If you have photos that you would like to share for the 2020 yearbook, please submit to Ms. Kurulak via email: dkurulak@svdpk8.com. Photos could include, but are not limited to, sports, class parties, field trips, and SVdP Serves activities. Also, please note that sports and activities pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 11th during the school day afternoon for the yearbook.
Spring Uniform Exchange – April 4th
Location: SVdP School Lobby from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Please bring small bills ($1’s and $5’s work best) to pay for purchases.
If you have SVdP uniform items to donate, please drop them off at the school office prior to April 4th. For further information, visit our website at www.svdpk8.com.
SVDP Annual Diaper Drive
7th Grade is holding its annual school wide diaper drive. We are collecting boxes of diapers for the Gabriel House Project (sizes 4, 5 and 6 are the sizes most needed). The Diaper Drive began on Ash Wednesday and will end on Holy Thursday (April 9). Click here for the flyer with information. This year, our goal is to collect 10,000 diapers. Please help us provide diapers for families in our community who are in need! You can drop off diapers at the school office. Thank you for your support!

Tuition Assistance
Families who are interested in applying for tuition assistance are asked to please stop by the school office to pick up applications. Please visit the school website and click on the Admissions tab for detailed information on the Tuition Assistance program.
Please note:
*If your child currently receives an ACE or Schmitz scholarship, you will receive an email from them to renew or decline the scholarship for the next school year.
*ALL families requesting assistance must complete the SVdP TAPS application which is available in the front office.
*ALL families will need to submit a copy of their 2019 tax return along with their applications.
*Paperwork must be submitted to the front office no later than the close of business day on April 17, 2020. Please place in an envelope addressed to the attention of Suzanne Meyer. No late applications will be accepted.

Recreational CO-ED Volleyball – Available this Fall – Information below:No post season tournament
CSAL is exploring a co-ed volleyball season this fall. Please note some current information:
- 5-week season on Mondays only, from 9/21/2020 – 10/19/2020
- Cross Country meets will not be scheduled on Mondays
- $25 per team registration
- four levels for team entries: 8th grade, 7th, grade, 6th grade, 5th grade. Your team will be placed on the level of the oldest athlete on the team
- co-ed means that both sexes must be represented on the team
- Please contact Coach Strawbridge if you’d like to put together and coach a team at any of these levels
SVdP Summer Academy
The SVdP Summer Academy is back! And it now includes math and sports in addition to its reading and writing curriculum! Click here to find the general registration form and information for Kindergarten through 5th grade. Rising Preschoolers can use this registration form to sign up for the morning session. 6th through 8th graders are invited to get a jumpstart on their 2020-2021 AR points by joining the SVdP Summer Book Club. Looking for 2020-2021 Home & School Positions!
It’s March, and time to start thinking about securing next year’s leadership positions within Home & School. If you have any interest or questions about becoming more involved in these areas, please reach out to Stephanie Carreira at stephaniecarreira@yahoo.com or Marissa Ogden at marissaogden08@gmail.com to discuss! We will be taking names through March 20th and filing positions by Spring break, April 8th. Areas to get involved in are:
Communications- Organize content calendar for newsletters, write some, not all, articles for newsletter, publish the newsletter, put together weekly Friday forecast, participate in monthly H&S meeting)
Faith and Family- Serve as liaison between parish and school events, assist with Catholic Schools Week (January) and Prayer Day (April) planning and activities, organize Pilgrim Virgin Mary Statue, provide content for the H&S newsletter and Friday Forecast, participate in monthly H&S meeting)
Community Involvement and Fundraising- Provide marketing/communication support and any additional needs for existing fundraising events (Jamba Juice, Scholastic Book Fair, Spirit Wear, Crusader Cards, Dine outs, etc..); provide content for the H&S newsletter and Friday Forecast and participate in monthly H&S meetings. Note: This role is NOT SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for raising money 🙂
Home and School Chair/Vice Chair- Oversee overall operation of H&S Association; run monthly meetings, act as liaison to Room Parents, attend student advisory council (SAC) meetings, provide content for H&S newsletter and Friday Forecast. Note: the Vice Chair serves 1 year to “shadow” and then becomes Chair the following year.

March 12th- Lunch and Recess Duty!
Let’s give our teachers a break! Sign up here to cover a lunch or recess shift for March 12th. A fun way to watch the kiddos during their favorite time of day!
AR Program – Congratulations to all the students who met their AR goal this trimester! Since it is Lent, the students were given a non-edible prize (choice of pencil or pen) in lieu of ice cream sundaes. Also, students exceeding their AR goal were able to select prizes such as notepads, erasers, posters, homework passes, free dress pass, unlimited library check out, or recess in the computer lab. Students selected their rewards during the school day on Wednesday, March 4th. Keep up the reading for the last trimester!
Summer Solutions Workbooks
If you are interested in ordering summer workbooks for your child from Summer Solutions orders are due by May 1st. Click here to get the website and school code. For orders placed by May 1st, it will be shipped to the school, after May 1st, it will ship directly to your home.
Blood Drive – Help Save Lives!!
The Knights of Columbus from St. Vincent De Paul Parish would like to host a community blood drive at St. Vincent de Paul, so that you have the opportunity to transform lives through donation. Before we can do that we need to determine the level of interest. Please review the donor eligibility guidelines at www.vitalant.org to determine that you are able to donate.Then, if you are interested and eligible to donate, please send an email to Dave Quintana at Quintana_6@msn.com with the subject of “Yes, I want to transform a life.”
