Spring Break Holy Thursday (half day) through Tuesday, April 14
In the interest of our teachers and you, our families, we will amend the dates for Spring Break – don’t worry, everybody wins in this. With the extended Stay-at-Home Order in Denver, we have heard that the schooling days bring routine, rhythm, and structure to otherwise would-be challenging days. Our teachers, although tired and having worked round the clock since March 12th to make eLearning a success, are highly motivated to continue schooling through a few of our spring break days in exchange for starting summer a few days earlier than planned on the calendar. (The dates for May and end of year will be coming soon.) Following is the way we can ensure that we are serving everyone in a reasonable way:
- We honor families who want and need to take time off of eLearning and keep the scheduled spring break. Please take it if you and your children need it. Students will be marked absent because April 15, 16, 17 will now be school days, but teachers are planning to ensure that the lessons missed by students in families who use the spring break for family time and downtime from screens will not need to make up work, or catch up from work taught on these three days. The originally-scheduled spring break is entirely honored for families who choose to take it. We anticipate that this will be only a few families, as many have asked for consideration for this modified spring break.
- Similarly, there are a handful of teachers who will need to take the entire spring break away from school, and we have been able to cover these teachers’ responsibilities with substitutes and with partner teachers, all of whom are well-known to our students.
- Students will have a half day off school on Thursday April 9, off Good Friday April 10, off Easter Monday April 13 and off Easter Tuesday April 14. Students will return to eLearning on Wednesday, April 15. These three days of Easter week (Wed-Fri) will have school structure throughout the morning and a lighter schedule in the afternoon.
- We hope this truly serves everyone’s needs. It is easily done on the school & teacher side and we hope it will accommodate your families as well.
eLearning Notes
How can eLearning@svdpk8.com desk support help students/parents. Note the front office will need to forward these kinds of requests to eLearning@svdpk8.com. Their response time is excellent. Email:
- hardware issues
- resetting Google passwords
- accessing a live class session
- help that is tailored to the device you are using
Students should be communicating questions in Zoom calls or using the comment feature in Google Classroom, if the teacher has shown that feature.
Just a reminder that when you are viewing grades, make sure you are checking ParentWeb. This is the official grade book for SVDP.
Important Tuition Information
- FACTS has notified schools that they are receiving an abundance of calls directly from parents requesting cessation or a change to their FACTS withdrawals. Parents should direct these requests to the school. Please email joyce@saintvincents.org with any request you may have. Requests need to be emailed at least three days prior to your scheduled withdrawal date to allow us time to make the change before the withdrawal information is transmitted from FACTS to your bank.
- For parents of our PK 4 year olds who chose to participate in the Denver Preschool Program (DPP), please know that they will continue to allow your tuition credits through the end of the school year.
- School Fees
We are in the process of reviewing fees and payments that may have been made for activities such as volleyball. If you receive reminder emails from FACTS regarding the volleyball fees, please ignore them. We will be removing the charge. If you have made your volleyball payment, but still have a tuition payment outstanding, we will credit your tuition for the volleyball amount. If your tuition is paid in full as well, we will issue a refund check.Note that we are billing for Extended Care services provided in March. Please authorize payment. If you wish to withhold payment for Extended Care Enrichment Activities pending an update, please do so.

That’s right, all, we have a new gala date and it is May 29, 2020. Same place, same time, and more reasons than ever to connect. We are optimistic about our opportunity to celebrate our great community in person, but ask that folks hold off on purchasing tickets until you see a new announcement to do so in mid April.
Update From Father Doug Grandon
Fr. Doug is safely home and out of quarantine. Father Doug was traveling with FOCUS to do mission work in Europe when the Coronavirus broke out. He is now safely home and out of the 14-day quarantine. Thanks be to god, no symptoms of Coronavirus. We also have an update about his new assignment: Archbishop Aquila has assigned Fr. Doug to be full time with FOCUS, where he has now begun as their third full-time national chaplain. He says that he very much hopes to continue assisting at SVDP with Masses, Confessions, Bible studies, etc,. He and his wife, Lynn, found a house in Aurora and plan to stay in the Denver area.
Holy Week Activities at Home
Since Holy Week will look different at home this year especially for younger children, click here for a “Holy Week Success Kit” to follow to help children understand the importance of this beautiful and holy week. This was put together by a Mom in the Archdiocese of Denver, and shared with us to pass along to you! We hope you enjoy and have fun with the activities! (It is a big file, so just give it a moment to download).
