Reminder to Families Regarding FACTS Withdrawals for the 2021-2022 School Year
We are in the process of entering tuition amounts and finalizing payment agreements for our school families. When you receive your confirmation notice, please check to see that all of the students in your family are listed correctly, and the information regarding your student’s grade level is correct.
If you have any questions, need a change or correction, or do not receive a FACTS notification by July 15th, please send Joyce Haberkorn an email at jhaberkorn@svdpk8.com.
Thank you to all of our school families. Once again we had 100% tuition remittance for the 2020-21 school year despite unusual challenges. Your dedicated support to your financial obligation is very appreciated!

Upper Playground Open 8am-8pm
We are able to open the upper playground this summer with some family help, which is being coordinated by the Nate and Erin Jones (rajnate@gmail.com). In order to minimize the need for our maintenance staff to address issues on the playground during the summer months, we are looking for neighborhood families who are willing to “give a week” to help keep the playground clean and open. Following are the goals for the playground:
- It is a no-dog zone which requires a commitment to invite people who bring their dogs to the playground to tie them up outside the fence.
- If you choose to take a week, your family would commit to checking the playground twice that week and clean up all trash wrappers and any dog messes.
- Once each week, on a weekday morning, bag the trash and put it in front of the school dumpster across Columbine.
Please email Nate Jones if you can give a week.
For your planning purposes, please know that the gates will be locked from 8pm-8am. Enjoy!
Keep Reading – A Culture of Reading in the Home this Summer
Your children will bring home the results of their final STAR Reading and Math tests of the 2020-2021 school year. We have seen solid growth in the majority of our students in both areas of study. Many parents ask how they can help their children continue to grow as students, and more specifically as readers, over the summer break. The following are suggestions for summer reading activities to build a culture of reading in you home and hopefully to instill a love of reading in your children:
- Participate in summer reading programs (see Home and School Newsletter) offered by places like the Denver Public Library, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, and Pizza Hut’s Book-it Program
- Have your child/ren build a cozy reading place such as a fort or special place in the yard to settle into a good read.
- Designate daily reading time in your home.
- Read together – aloud and for fun – poems, short stories, Bible stories, and plays
- Make sure the adults in the home model reading on a regular basis.
- Talk about books and shared articles at meal times
- Listen to audio books as a family
- Engage everyone in the family in reading a common book and having a family book club discussion. Expand the party to include another family in the club.
Reading skills improve with reading. The love of reading grows when children have access to a variety of texts and people who want to share their love of reading.
DENVER PRESCHOOL PROGRAM TUITION SUPPORT
- Thanks to Denver voters, preschool tuition support is available to all families – regardless of income – who have a child who is 4 years old by October 1 and the family resides in the City and County of Denver.
- The amount of tuition that the Denver Preschool Program will pay on your behalf will vary based on your income information and how many hours your child attends.
- In addition to a reduction in your child’s tuition, the school will receive funding for supplies and equipment, and educational opportunities for staff based on the number of students enrolled in the program.
- We encourage our eligible students to apply. Please go to dpp.org to learn more about the program and complete an application. We suggest that you apply soon!
- The Denver Preschool is also conducting a pilot program to provide support for 3 year old students. This program, however, is based on income eligibility. If you are interested in learning more about this program, please go to dpp.org.
IMPORTANT TUITION NEWS FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
There will be a few changes to the FACTS payment program for the upcoming school year.
Please make sure that factsmgt.com is listed as an acceptable email address in your email account.
During mid to late June or early July, you will receive an email from FACTS confirming your tuition amount and payment plan for the 2021-2022 school year. Please review the information carefully to be sure that all of your students are listed with the correct grade levels. Also, please double check the amount of tuition due. If you feel that there is an error in the amount being charged, please email Joyce Haberkorn at jhaberkorn@svdpk8.com promptly!
If you do not receive an email during the time frame mentioned above, again, please email Joyce.
The tuition rates are located on the school website at https://svdpk8.com/index.php/tuition/
If there are any subsequent tuition adjustments resulting from your Parish Affiliation reviews, you will be notified of the change
If an occasion arises during the school year that you’d like to readjust a payment date, etc., please contact Joyce at least 4 business days prior to the scheduled withdrawal date to allow time for the change to be processed..
In the 2021-2022 school year, if any INCIDENTAL BILLING is done for your student (milk program, athletic fees, etc) you will receive an email notification from FACTS indicating the amount due and a due date. You will no longer need to log on to FACTS and authorize a withdrawal. The amount due will be automatically withdrawn on the due date. The due date will always be 10 days or more after the invoice date.
As always, thank you, SVdP families for being so very conscientious and faithful to your tuition commitment during the 2019-2020 school year. Your support makes so many wonderful things possible for our SVdP students.

Sports
SVDP CROSS COUNTRY (“XC”) REGISTRATION
We are pleased to announce that 2021 SVDP XC Team registration will soon be open. Please be on the look out for future communication for registration. Runners (boys and girls) entering into 6, 7, and 8 grades (Fall) are eligible. Runners entering 5th grade will also be eligible based on availability.
SVDP TEAM REGISTRATION:
The Team will compete in 8 meets, including the Colorado Middle School Cross Country Championship. Cross Country has 48 spaces on the Team. We open this sport up to all 6, 7, 8 grade runners. If there are spaces available after the registration deadline (TBD), we will let rising 5th grade students/parents know the opportunity to join the cross country team as a 5th grader. If there are only a few spaces, we will plan a qualifying race to fill as many spots as are open to 5th graders. 5th graders are restricted in competing in some of the races.
Volunteers:
We love volunteers and encourage parent participation at practices and meets. Please consider helping with practices on bikes helping navigate our runners and keep them safe. We will circulate a sign up genius asking for your help and participation in the Fall. We are in need of a Team Manager to assist with the logistics of registering runners for meets etc.
Summer Fun Runs
We will be holding Fun Runs this summer on the High Line Canal once a week in the evenings –more information to follow.
