COVID Update
Family decisions are the #1 factor in keeping COVID spread to a minimum in schools. This year is very different from last year, and much more normal. Thanks be to God. Please note the following updates with regard to COVID protocols.
- Parents provide masks for children. Disposable masks at school are available as a backup, but not regular daily use.
- Symptomatic children remain home until symptoms resolve, alternate diagnosis becomes known, or the child receives a negative COVID PCR test at least five days after any exposure or symptom onset. Symptoms of concern include headache and body ache, low grade fever, cough, unexplained fatigue, sore throat, runny nose and GI issues, all of which may be indicators of COVID19.
- Monitor close contacts for 14 days by daily symptoms check, including temperature.
- Positive cases must still quarantine for 10 days from onset of symptoms, and must be fever free for 24+ hours without fever-reducing medicine, and symptoms must be subsiding, especially a cough.
- If a child with a positive case of COVID19 can be fully isolated in the home, close contacts and siblings are currently still permitted to attend school, unless they become symptomatic. If you cannot isolate the person/s with a positive case of COVID19, other members of the family should remain home for the duration of the quarantine.
- We are notifying parents of any homeroom class that has a positive COVID case, and we specifically notify parents of close contacts.
- We do not require testing; however if you are going to test, the professionally administered PCR is still the gold standard test that yields the most useful information.
- The quarantine guidance is provided in consultation with Denver Public Health.

New Opportunity Parent Bible Study – Hosted by Mary Kate Conner
Dear SVDP Parents, I would love to serve you by hosting a weekly bible study. No past experience is necessary! We will be meeting just after drop off, around 8:05 on Friday mornings. It will typically last about an hour. Please complete this survey so I can get an idea of interest level. I will send out another interest form after our return from Christmas break if your schedule this trimester doesn’t work out for you.
Home and School
First Spirit Wear Day September 24
Students are invited to wear spirit wear tops (t-shirts, sweatshirts) and uniform bottoms. Regular school shoes required.
SVDP Gala – First Denim Day is September 30th
Students/Staff are invited to wear their gala t-shirts with denim jeans (or skirts for girls)! This is a fun way to get excited for the SADDLE UP Gala on April 30th. Click here for the whole Denim Days schedule. Jeans should be clean and in good condition with no tears in the knees or elsewhere. Gala shirts were ordered for the entire student body and will be passed out to the “youngest and only” child in the school on Friday, September 24th and should come home over the weekend. (September 30th is a Mass day, and students are permitted to wear their Saddle Up Denim Wear on this day).
SVDP Serves
SVDP Serves is still in need of several volunteers. If you’re interested in learning more about this great program, please email Lara O’Shaughnessy at lara_osh1@yahoo.com.
Coat and Boot Drive
BRRRR!! With the arrival of the cooler temps, it’s time to make sure that your family has winter clothes that fit…AND time to donate the gently used coats, jackets, sweaters, long underwear, gloves, mittens, hats, boots, and shoes that could be better used by someone else! Please take the time to clean out your closets and bag up your extra or out-grown items. September 27th-October 8th, donations will be accepted by the flag pole and by the main entrance at drop-off and pick-up. Please include your children by having them deliver the bagged donations to our drop zones so they feel included in helping us serve those in need love! Donations will be going to Denver Rescue Mission and the Samaritan House.
