Speaker Series Save the Date – Legal Implications for Our Teens’ Online and Social Behaviors
Thursday, October 28th at 7pm in the School Gym
SVdP is fortunate to have local Attorney, Lara Baker, of Foster Graham, presenting to our community on the legal ramifications of seemingly normal online and social behaviors of teenage kids.
All too often the lawyers in her practice handle cases for good kids who have found themselves in trouble. Whether it be school discipline or contact with law enforcement, the best way to protect your children is to understand how the laws work in Colorado and create a dialogue about how to help your kids make good decisions. Laura will be discussing these important issues and pitfalls:
- Social media, cyber-bullying and the use of electronic devices.
- Sex, sexting and the laws of consent.
- The temptation of drugs and alcohol and the consequences you could face
- School disciplinary consequences and what to do if you are contacted by the police.
This talk is not just for parents of middle schoolers, but all ages as we prepare to raise our children in this technologically driven world. More information about Lara can be found here; as well as past talks she has given to High School communities.
Please RSVP here if you plan to attend Lara’s talk.

Gala Denim Wear
Students/Staff are invited to wear their gala t-shirts with denim jeans (or skirts for girls)! This is a fun way to get excited for the SADDLE UP Gala on April 30th. Click here for the whole Denim Days schedule. Jeans should be clean and in good condition with no tears in the knees or elsewhere. Gala shirts were ordered for the entire student body and have been passed out to the “youngest and only” child in the school. (September 30th is a Mass day, and students are permitted to wear their Saddle Up Denim Wear on this day).
A note of clarification on all of these non uniform opportunities:
- Spirit Wear – scheduled monthly. Students may wear an SVDP spirit wear top and uniform bottoms. Spirit wear can be jerseys from SVDP teams, past years faith rally t-shirts, or tops purchased specifically during “Spirit Wear” sales. Wearing the school uniform top/bottom is always an option.
- Gala Denim Days – see schedule linked above. Students may wear their SVDP Gala Wear shirt. This is a red shirt with SVDP written vertically on the front of the shirt, with a boot spur floating above the V. This year, this shirt is for Gala Denim Days only. (Next year it will be included in spirit wear options). Bottoms are long pant denim jeans of any color or, for girls, a skirt of length similar to the uniform skirt length. Tennis shoes/regular school shoes. It is an oversight that the first one is scheduled on a Mass day, but we will keep it as scheduled. We try to be very intentional that students (and all people) should plan to look their best on a Mass day because we are going into a sacred space to worship.
- Out of uniform or free dress days – not currently scheduled but they do pop up and/or students receive passes for this. Please check free dress day guidelines in the parent/student handbook. These should never be used on a Mass day.
