COVID Update
Based on news about the Omicron variant, we anticipate that we will see some spread of the virus in the community, especially in the coming weeks. We have had a handful of cases this week, but have not seen spread within the school building to date. The majority of these cases have presented with a multi-day headache or stomach ache. PCR test results are currently averaging a longer wait time than the new five-day quarantine period. By way of update/reminder:
- We do not require testing, either PCR or rapid, at-home tests.
- The mask mandate is still in place under the order of the Denver Public Health Commissioner; cloth masks are less effective than surgical or N95 masks.
- The quarantine period for a positive case is five days from exposure or from a positive test. However, any student must be fever free for 24 hours, and symptoms resolving, prior to returning to school.
- The threshold for quarantining a classroom at SVDP School is three positive cases with assumption that the spread happened within the school, which is the default assumption, unless a more reasonable source of infection can be identified.
Gofundme for the Watson family
Some of the parents in the 8th grade have helped to establish a gofundme project for the Watson family, specifically Mr. Watson’s daughter, Aoife and her mom. Please see the link below if you would like to consider a contribution to the project.

Community Opportunities
Supporting those affected by the Marshall fires
There are many ways we can be supporting our neighbors in Boulder county after the terrible fires last week. Please see this article from Denver7 for specific ways to help out, as well this invitation from our Archbishop to donate to a special relief fund for families in need.
Respect for Life Denver
Plan now to attend the Celebrate Life Rally and March on the west side of the Colorado State Capitol in downtown Denver on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022. The theme is ‘Honoring Courageous Mothers’. See details on our website and download our new flyers in English at this link, and in Spanish at this link. Please share everywhere that you can! Pull together a team at your parish if you have not already done so, and make plans ahead of time for your strong participation. Consider attending an early Mass where you are. Design parish banners, swag, t-shirts, hats, flags, etc., to set yourselves apart from the crowd in an exciting way! We hope to see you there.
