A note from Sister Marie Isaac, OP
Preparation for Lent – Lent is a beautiful time of preparation for the celebration of Easter, when we rejoice in the Resurrection of Jesus. For Christians, our goal is to grow in love and union with God so that one day we may live forever in heaven with him. A common question during this time of year is, “What are you giving up for Lent?”. But we can also take the approach of “What can I add in my life to grow closer to God?”. Here are a few common suggestions that you may consider this year:
- Watching an uplifting video or TV show – The Chosen, Formed.org
- Renew the practice of attending Mass on Sunday/Saturday evening
- Schedule a family game night
- Visit a holy Catholic site – The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, The Shrine of Mother Frances Cabrini,
- Make the Stations of the Cross at your local parish
- Check out St. Vincent de Paul’s Parish Mission – How to be a Christian
To begin Lent, ashes will be distributed at the School Mass on Ash Wednesday, February 22 at 9:30 AM. Parents and families are welcomed to attend. Ashes will also be distributed at the normal 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM daily Masses.
Enjoy your nice long weekend. Know of my prayers for you and your family.
